Introduction
Our Client, a leader in the Retail industry with branches in Durban and Cape Town, providing a wide range of products to their various stores, is seeking to appoint a committed, suitably qualified, and experienced individual to fill the position of New Store Development Manager for their KZN Region. The successful candidate will be based in their Mobeni Offices in Durban.
The New Store Development Manager will report and operate under the direction of the General Manager and CEO.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Managing and providing leadership to the regional team on any viable opportunities in the property market.
- Ensuring that the brand has a strong presence in the property development industry, and has an opportunity to find great sites.
- Evaluation of prospective sites for the brand on a macro and micro level.
- Presentation of selected sites to the CEO and General Manager.
- Control of the setup and or relaunch of stores.
- Interview and evaluation of suppliers, including cost analysis of the setting up.
- Co-ordinating and controlling the contractors during setup or revamp.
- Maintaining total control of the project and keeping all parties updated.
- Oversight of facilitation of the sale of existing stores
- Providing leadership to the company in new business development, store development and current retail management best operating practices to ensure the stores are sustainable, profitable, and competitive in the market.
- Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, corporate identity, and related audits by the Department of Labour and legal governing bodies in all new and existing stores to be launched.
- Implementing of Best Operating Procedures (BOP) in retail operations in line with national standardized processes regarding development of new and revamped stores
- Managing the corporate identity of the brand through ensuring and monitoring that the new regional stores are adhering to acceptable store standards, image, and design.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- National Senior Certificate (Matric), pre-requisite.
- Relevant business-related tertiary qualification.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Retail Property Development business.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience specific to the building and hardware retail industry.
- Extensive Project Management experience.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of local property and the retail development market.
- Firm understanding of financial statements particularly cash flow statements and financing options.
- Ability to undertake and interpret financial feasibility studies.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Thorough knowledge of leasing and contracts.
- Ability to interpret demographic data.
- Highly motivated self-starter.
- High level of Integrity.
- Ability to work independently.
- High energy, self-starter, collaborative, attention to detail, exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to handle pressure.
- Personal values: honesty, integrity and reliability.
- Ability to listen, consult, motivate, encourage, and influence others.
- Skilled in conducting commercial negotiations, facilitating agreements, and managing conflict.
- Emotional maturity and resilience is essential.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Valid drivers licence.
Package & Remuneration
Market-related salary of R20 000 – R30 000 per month.
