Introduction
Our Client, a leader in the Manufacturing Industry, seeks to employ a Flow Pack Machine Operator to join their dynamic team.
Responsible for overseeing employees, tracking inventory for packing material, conducting the monthly packing inventory, assisting the Purchase Manager, and managing the day-to-day maintenance of the flow pack machine. Applicants must reside in and around the Cape Town area.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicates company policies and procedures to employees and ensures compliance.
- Follows, communicates, and reinforces strict adherence to general company safety, chemical safety, and food safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to HACCP principles (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Sets up people and or work teams for the flow pack machine to fill daily production orders.
- Provides basic technical expertise for programming the flow pack machine in order to fill work orders accurately.
- Manages day-to-day maintenance of the packing room and machinery, including preventative maintenance, repairs, cleaning, scheduling and inspections.
- Able to follow safety guidelines and the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Ensures a clean and safe environment, including troubleshooting of packing machinery to maintain the company goal of 100 (One hundred) % operational time of equipment.
- Completes data entry of all repack production into navision.
- Responsible for counting and maintaining all packing material required for the repack operation.
- Ensures the Repack-, Production-, and Purchase Managers are informed of replenishing packing material when minimum order quantities are reached.
- Follow first in, first out inventory rotation in coolers on bulk products to be used in the repack operation.
- Monitors product and quality control standards.
- Reports questionable product quality to the Repack- and Production Manager.
- Provides ideas to the Repack- and Production Manager for areas of improvement, both in quality and quantity of work, including cost reductions.
- Provides information to Repack- and Production Manager regarding issues or concerns which may result in disciplinary action of an employee.
- Treats and maintains company assets with a sense of ownership.
- Immediately reports any incident or accident to the Repack- and Production Manager.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 (Twelve) or equivalent qualification.
- Must have supervisory experience.
- Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment from 35º F to 50º F depending on the product being repacked.
- Excellent ability to work in a team and self-driven.
- Good attention to detail and product quality.
- Able to follow directions verbally and over the phone.
- Demonstrate an ability to exercise sound judgment in making recommendations and decisions within the scope of responsibility.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing packing machinery.
- Computer literate.
