Introduction
Our Client, a leader in the Retail Industry, is seeking to appoint an experienced Cashier Supervisor to join their dynamic team in Pietermaritzburg. Applicants must reside in the Pietermaritzburg area.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee all the operations of the Cashier department.
- Know, understand, and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Customer service – meet customer needs and handle their complaints in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area around the cash office.
- Respond to requests for assistance in all departments.
- Assist the Store Manager in compiling financial reports and summaries for management.
- Oversee, train, and ensure opening and closing procedures are being followed.
- Oversee and ensure accuracy and security of all cash received through the front end, by upholding money-handling procedures, checking cashier deposit paperwork, and giving feedback to cashiers on over and short.
- Adhere to security procedures, including theft and disorderly customers.
- Oversee the vendor relationship with the cash register supplier, ensuring proper functioning, prompt repairs, and timely request of any programming changes.
- Develop and maintain the cashier training system. In addition, maintain and update the cashier training manual.
- Oversee and ensure that there are adequate registers and front-end supplies.
- Ensure cashiers are aware of price changes, specials, and all changes in store policies and procedures affecting cashiering.
- Ensure on-the-job training using training checklists.
- Oversee and direct tasks and projects for cashiers.
- Banking runs during the day.
- Supporting upper-level management and filling in for absent personnel as required
- Complete all duties to company standards and promptly.
- Report to the Office Supervisor and Store Manager
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 (Twelve) qualification.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong mathematical skills to handle money and give cash back at tills.
- Ability to be proactive and results-driven leader.
- Ability to handle multiple demands with great attention to detail and accuracy.
- Calm under pressure.
- Strong technical skills.
- Experience in developing systems and procedures.
- Communications skills: good listener and ability to communicate and interpret clear instructions.
- Full availability Monday – Saturday, from 07:00 am to 09:00 pm, and willing to work flexible retail hours.
