Our Client, based in Brickfield, has a vacancy for a Cashier.
Responsibilities
Cashier Transactions
- Itemizes and totals purchases by recording prices, departments, taxable and nontaxable items; operating a cash register.
- Scan and verify prices on products.
- Enter price changes by referring to price sheets and special sale bulletins.
- Discounts purchases by redeeming coupons.
- Operate registers, scanners, scales and credit and debit card terminals.
- Collect payments by accepting cash, cheque, or charge payments such as debit and credit card transactions from Clients.
- Where applicable in a cash transaction, hand over the correct change with the receipt for their purchase(s) to the Client thereby completing the transaction.
- Maintain an accurate cash drawer.
- Keep the checkout area clean and orderly.
- Maintain a daily and weekly report of all transactions that have been conducted.
- Client interaction.
- Take a tally of the funds in the cash register when required during shift and produce transaction reports.

Client interaction
- Memorize product locations throughout the store and be able to direct Clients or make suggestions.
- Handle transactions in a quick and efficient manner.
- Resolve any issue that a Client may have regarding a product in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Be a point of contact and source of information for Clients. Be well informed by all relevant products offered by the business and aware of all available promotions and be able to list them off to Clients.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric Certificate and or Grade 12 (Twelve) Secondary Schooling
- More than 2 (Two) years’ experience as a Cashier in a retail environment.
- Be able to apply logical reasoning to numerical concepts and have good general mathematical skills.
- Be able to handle transactions quickly and accurately.
- Have a positive attitude toward Clients, including the ability to speak clearly and convey information accurately.
- Knowledge of register operation, including cash, credit cards and register receipts.
