Introduction
Our Client, a leader in the Retail industry with branches in Durban and Cape Town, providing a wide range of products to their various stores, is seeking to appoint a committed, suitably qualified, and experienced individual to fill the position of Retail Internal Auditor for their KZN Region. The successful candidate will be based in their Mobeni Offices in Durban. Applicants must reside in and around the Mobeni area.
The purpose of Retail Internal Auditor is to provide independent, objective assurance to the company Board of Directors that the governance processes, management of risk, and systems of internal control are adequate and effective to mitigate the risks, both current and emerging, that threaten the achievement of the Group’s strategy and key objectives. This will result in improving the internal control and risk culture of the Group.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.
- Attend full stock-takes to document the process, conduct independent verification, and report back.
- Ensure all stock movement and cycle counts are correct.
- Travel nationally between stores to execute the function of Internal Auditing.
- Safe-guarding of company assets specifically stock, assets and cash.
- Determine the internal audit scope.
- Obtain, analyse and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts etc.
- Prepare and present reports that reflect audit results and document the process.
- Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement.
- Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.
- Document process and prepare the audit findings memorandum.
- Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions.
- Continuous knowledge development regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards.
- Implement, update and control of company policies and procedures.
- Database management of Personal Identifiable Information (PII)
- Increase data collection across all touchpoints.
- Ensure data is clean and managed in compliance with local legislation and policy.
- Implementation of tools to utilize, manage and optimise data for marketing campaigns.
- Segment data into audiences and enhance and refresh data constantly.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 (Twelve).
- Degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting or Finance.
- Proven track record in Retail Internal Auditing.
- Currently an Internal Auditor within a Wholesale, Retail, or FMCG company.
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports.
- Knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations.
- Valid Driver’s License and own vehicle (to travel between stores for the purpose of Store Internal Auditing).
Package & Remuneration
Market-related salary of R20 000 – R30 000 per month.
