Dear valued Client
WEARING OF FACE MASKS AND GATHERING REGULATIONS
As you are aware, the initial 30 (Thirty) day transitional period after the President ended the State of Disaster has ended on 4 May 2022. However, the Minister of Health has published a new Government Gazette which still requires the following until further notice:
- A person must wear a face mask in an indoor public place (there is no definition of indoor public places in our statute; if we have reference to the World Health Organisation’s definition the wearing of masks would automatically extend to work premises…” means any indoor place accessible to the public, including places accessible by appointment or permission) and may not use public transport if they do not wear a face mask.
- Planned gatherings of more than 100 (One hundred) people require that all individuals are vaccinated or have a negative (COVID19) test for 50 (Fifty) % of the venue capacity to be occupied (applicable to indoor and outdoor gatherings), failing which the limit is 50 (Fifty) % of the venue capacity or 1000 (One thousand) people, 2000 (Two thousand) people for indoor and outdoor events respectively.
The extension of the above regulations must be seen in the context of low vaccination rates as well as the approaching winter months. You are reminded of companies’ (COVID-19) Workplace Plan as well as of the importance of complying with these and other regulations.
We appreciate your commitment to keeping the workplace a healthy and safe place.
